Averie Harris Design was born through the belief that great design should feel deeply personal, not predetermined. Rather than imposing a signature aesthetic, the studio is rooted in listening first: understanding how each client lives, what they are drawn to, and how they want their spaces to feel.
Every project is approached as a collaborative and highly tailored process, where client desires are thoughtfully refined into environments that feel authentic, elevated, and enduring. Through the intentional layering of texture, natural materials, architectural detail, and atmosphere, the goal is to create spaces that reflect identity rather than trends.
AHD values building close relationships with clients throughout the design process — observing how they currently live and function within their spaces, identifying opportunities to improve daily life, and curating spaces that remain true to who they are while gently pushing beyond their comfort zones. The result is a home that feels both deeply familiar and thoughtfully evolved.
AVERIE HARRIS
Founder & Principal Designer
Averie’s design journey began early, shaped by a mother who encouraged hands-on creativity and a father who introduced her to the worlds of business, construction, and problem-solving. Her foundation in design includes four years of residential architecture studies, a background in Business & Marketing at Aquinas College, and a BFA in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning interior design, architecture, fashion, and culture, Averie draws inspiration from the surrounding environment, the human experience, and the timeless influence of architectural history. Internships with leading architecture and design firms throughout her education helped shape a thoughtful and well-rounded approach to the creative process.
Her work is rooted in the belief that the spaces we inhabit have a profound influence on how we feel, gather, recharge, and live. Through a balance of creative vision, intentional materiality, and careful planning, Averie creates spaces that feel deeply personal — environments that are functional, emotionally resonant, and reflective of the people who live within them.
Known for her attention to detail and highly personalized approach, Averie collaborates closely with each client to curate spaces that tell a unique story while maintaining a strong sense of purpose, warmth, and longevity.
With a background in residential real estate dating back to 2018, Shay brings extensive experience in client relations, operations, and project coordination to the Averie Harris Design team. Focused on streamlining processes and supporting the day-to-day operations of the studio, he plays an integral role in helping projects and business operations run efficiently and seamlessly.
In addition to his professional background, Shay has spent the past decade coaching basketball at Greenville High School and within surrounding communities. His passion for mentorship, leadership, and teamwork naturally informs his collaborative approach within the studio.
Outside of work, Shay enjoys live music, discovering a great smash burger, and spending time with his wife, friends, family, and two dogs.
