THE ARCHED RETREAT
This Primary Bathroom renovation draws inspiration from the home’s Italian villa–inspired architecture, with careful attention given to preserving the original dome and arched ceilings that define the space. These architectural elements served as the guiding framework for the design, shaping each decision with a sense of restraint and reverence for the home’s character.
Materiality played a central role in the transformation. Natural marble flooring introduces timeless elegance underfoot, while rich wood tones bring warmth and depth to the palette. Plaster-look tiles imported from Italy were selected for their subtle texture and authenticity, reinforcing the connection to traditional European craftsmanship while offering a refined, modern sensibility.
Rather than competing with the architecture, the design was approached as a quiet layering of materials and details that feel inherent to the home. Each selection was made to support the integrity of the original structure—allowing the dome and arched ceilings to remain the focal point—while elevating the overall experience of the space.
The result is a bathroom that feels both grounded in history and thoughtfully renewed: a space where heritage is honored, materials are celebrated, and daily rituals unfold within an environment of timeless beauty and architectural continuity.
